Concerned about the cost?
Campuses often have the resources to support student leadership and involvement efforts. Here are some ideas on how to get funding to cover your costs:
- Plan your finances
- Don't stress too much about exact figures, try to figure out a ballpark number first
- Main costs include: food, registration fee, housing, transportation
- Write a proposal
- Your school will want something tangible for their records
- Provide context about the conference: who is hosting, what do they do? All the information is on this website!
- Why do you want to go? Including a personal story about why you want to go to the conference will make your proposal come to life
- What will you do when you get back? Explain service, fundraising, and education ideas you and your friends can implement in your community
- Include contact information including references from professors or other adults you work with
- Ideas on where to get funding
- Campus Ministry
- Dean's Offices
- Clubs
- Departments- Connect the conference with that field of study
- Financial Aid Office- Check for scholarships
- Student Government
- Leadership Offices
- Contacting potential supporters
- Brief them on what you are planning ahead of time, save the details for the meeting
- If they sound excited, immediately provide them with your proposal
- Practice what you say ahead of time!
